She added that pursuing Higher Education is a privilege, and that it is crucial to choose a discipline that aligns with one’s interests and proficiency.
Moodley thanked her university friends ‘who were always willing to help with academic challenges, whether it was studying with me during online learning, constantly encouraging me to believe in myself and what I can achieve or providing me with extra notes and resources to help improve my performance.’
Bachelor of Social Science candidate Ismail whose dream is to become a clinical psychologist commented: ‘Being awarded this scholarship has not only increased my confidence but also reaffirmed my commitment to academic excellence. It has relieved me of a financial burden and allowed me to concentrate on my studies and extracurricular activities.’ She intends to continue to postgraduate studies and ultimately earn a doctorate.
Ismail also plans to give back to the University community by volunteering, mentoring, participating in student organisations and research projects and sharing her knowledge with others.
